About Velmixa Review
A review of performance and healthspan research for people who want the trial design, not the headline.
Velmixa Review exists because the gap between what a study measured and what gets claimed about it has become enormous in this field. A trial reports a change in a mitochondrial gene expression marker in 30 people over four weeks, and six months later that is being sold as cellular rejuvenation. We read the paper, report what was measured, in whom, for how long, and how large the effect was, and we say plainly when the answer is that nobody knows yet.
How we choose what to cover
Most of what circulates in longevity and biohacking is either a press release or a clip taken out of context. We start from the other end: a claim only becomes a story when we can find the underlying trial, review, registry entry, or regulator document and read it ourselves.
That means we cover fewer things than a typical wellness site, and we spend more words on what a study did not show. If the human evidence for something is one small crossover trial in young men, we say so in the first paragraph rather than the last.
How we grade evidence
- Strong — multiple randomised controlled trials in humans, or a meta-analysis of them, with consistent direction of effect.
- Moderate — at least one adequately powered human RCT, with replication still pending or partial.
- Limited — small, short, or single-site human trials, or trials measuring biomarkers rather than outcomes people care about.
- Preclinical — cell or animal work only. Interesting, not actionable.
- Anecdotal — testimonial, forum reports, and marketing claims.
Every product or compound we write about carries one of these labels, and the label sits next to the claim rather than in a footnote.
Money and independence
We do not sell sponsored posts, paid guest articles, link insertions, or placement in any list. No brand sees a draft before publication. If a company sends us a product to test, that is disclosed in the byline of the piece it appears in, and the product goes back or gets donated afterwards.
Where we link to a retailer, the link is plain and unpaid. If that ever changes, the change will be stated at the top of the page it applies to, not buried in this one.
Corrections
Corrections run at the top of the article, dated, describing what was wrong. We do not quietly edit and move on. Send anything you think is wrong to review@velmixa.com and we will look at the primary source again.
What this site is not
This is a publication, not a clinic and not a shop. Nothing here is medical advice or a recommendation to take anything. Several compounds we cover are sold as research chemicals, are only available through compounding pharmacies, or sit in an unresolved regulatory position. Where that is true, we say so, and we do not tell readers how to obtain them.
